Premier-Medibuy partnership strained

Premier Inc. has been renegotiating its contracts and relationships with Medibuy, the troubled medical supply e-commerce concern, in the wake of disappointing results, HPN has learned. A senior executive at the big GPO told HPN that although e-commerce remains a “major initiative,” the market is “not moving at the speed we would expect.”
The 1,600-member group is now refocusing and searching for ways to commit its resources while Medibuy is still bogged down in connectivity issues, the source said. “They [Medibuy] have some good solutions, especially if they put together the right packages. But it’s just not happening as fast as we thought,” said the Premier executive.

AmeriNet allies with GHX

AmeriNet, the big St. Louis-based GPO, has signed an alliance with Global Healthcare Exchange that gives the 1,900 AmeriNet hospital members access to the GHX Internet-based trading exchange. GHX will provide access to its AllSource electronic catalog and all other GHX products and services. These services will include connectivity options that integrate GHX to AmeriNet members’ existing materials management systems.
