Percent of doctors say a family member has died due to a preventable medical error, according to a recent survey by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. That number jumps to 10 percent for members of the general public who participated in the survey. Results of the study appear in the Dec. 12, 2002 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
