hile it’s been said that a
magazine – even an industry trade publication like Healthcare
Purchasing News- isonly as good as its content (but you certainly can’t discount the
advertising support), it’s the carrying case that initially captures
eyeballs.
Over the years, HPN has seen at least ten makeovers (that’s a
smidgeon more than three per decade on average, if you’re the
number-crunching type). The name has evolved from HPN’s early
ancestor Hospital World, to Purchasing Administration,
then Hospital Purchasing News before becoming Healthcare
Purchasing News. Perhaps the most significant change came in 2001
when it shrunk to a standard magazine size from its historical tabloid
size.
Here we offer you a retrospective of the ten seminal
HPN covers not only to rekindle fond memories but also to encourage
you to be thankful for the contemporary 21st Century update you have in
your hands today – and maybe ponder what the cover will look like 30
years from now.
