Are we there yet? F or the last 12 months Healthcare Purchasing News has explored and highlighted the people, places, processes and products that influenced – and shaped – the supply chain management profession during the last three decades. Hopefully, the content was helpful and insightful as it was educational, thoughtful and occasionally controversial.
Whether something made you laugh or smile – or even left you outraged – we hope our look back rekindled fond memories, if not learning experiences in your career and in the profession. Now, as HPN closes the book on its year-long 30th Anniversary celebration, we decided to give you a tiny glimpse at the next 30 years. Granted, few – if any – of us most likely will be kicking the tires in the industry three decades from now but we thought it would be fun to conceptualize how HPN would look and feel in 2037. Here are some noteworthy observations and explanations: 1. We envision the name remaining Healthcare Purchasing News, even as the name of the profession may have changed countless times. 2. See the swooping nameplate that swooshes across the top? It suggests flexibility, fluidity, momentum, nimbleness – traits that an effective and efficient supply chain must have. 3. The typeface of the nameplate is readable and transparent on a white background, suggesting honesty and high ethical standards. 4. In a profession historically dominated by men, how telling that a woman representing futuristic supply chain operations dominates the cover image, suggesting that by 2037, gender parity finally is the norm. 5. The creative cover lines indicate what’s on the hearts and minds of readers in the next generation healthcare facilities. The most noteworthy? Healthcare facilities still exist, supply chain managers still care about their profession and their contributions to the industry and HPN still chronicles it all. To all of our faithful readers over the years, many thanks for spending your time with us as competition for your attention increased. To those who have been with us since the very beginning, we offer you a special heartfelt thanks, hope you’ve enjoyed the ride and plan to stick around a while longer. We’re just getting started on the next leg of the journey. |
