2012 IAHCSMM Conference to push education to new heights
by Julie E. Williamson
Quality-
and safety-focused Central Sterile Supply Department professionals know that
they can’t put a price on ongoing education – and that knowledge advancement
and professionalism should never be sacrificed. It’s a motto long adopted by
the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel
Management, as well, and a message that continues to serve as the foundation
for the Association’s many educational offerings, not the least of which
includes the IAHCSMM Annual Conference & Expo.
The 2012 Conference, held April 29-May 2 in
Albuquerque, NM, promises to deliver the very best (and the very most)
educational offerings available to all who attend. From knowledge-building
pre-conference hands-on workshops (Saturday, April 28) and more than 20
timely management and technical updates taught by some of the CSSD
profession’s most renowned and respected experts, to expansive and
informative exhibits, poster presentations, vendor learning annexes, repair
vans demos, Early Bird Discussion Forums, and much more, attendees will have
all the resources at their fingertips to elevate their knowledge and promote
ongoing quality and professionalism within their departments.
Also noteworthy is this year’s inspiring
keynote speaker, Amy Roloff, who proves that great things really do come in
small packages. While most recognized for her hit TLC reality show "Little
People Big World," Roloff is also a successful business woman, respected
motivational speaker, philanthropist, farm owner, author, former educator,
and mother. What’s more, her background in personnel and hospitality –
coupled with her experience in juggling multiple roles and projects, while
also overcoming seemingly insurmountable challenges – is what gives her such
a big presence and is sure to make her keynote message so poignant.
In keeping with IAHCSMM Annual Conference
tradition, attendees will also benefit from a range of networking
opportunities, as well as lively social events that will allow for mingling
and dining with experts, vendors and fellow CSSD professionals. What’s more,
Albuquerque itself offers exciting opportunities all its own, from
Technicolor mountain vistas, a dynamic and culturally diverse art and
history scene, and unique shopping destinations to world-class dining,
discounted tours and adventures, and more.
