Boston Scientific said it has largely restored global operations following an Aug. 25 cybersecurity incident that disrupted portions of its internal infrastructure, distribution network and remote-monitoring services. The company reported no evidence that the incident impaired product function.

Distribution centers are processing and shipping products at or above normal levels, all sterilization facilities are operational, and manufacturing has resumed at most facilities. Boston Scientific is continuing to reduce order backlogs, replenish sales representatives’ inventory and restore remaining manufacturing capacity.

For healthcare organizations, the disruption illustrates how a cyberattack on a major medical-device manufacturer can quickly affect product distribution, manufacturing and technology-enabled patient monitoring, even when the devices themselves remain functional.
