CMS announced $20 million to expand telehealth and modernize healthcare technology across rural North Carolina through the federal Rural Health Transformation Program. The funding will support the state’s Rural Health Innovation Fund, which makes resources available to eligible providers. Supported projects include:

·       Expanding telehealth access.

·       Upgrading electronic health records.

·       Strengthening cybersecurity.

·       Adopting technology to support clinical decisions.

The investment is part of North Carolina’s broader fiscal 2026 allocation and follows $11.25 million previously announced for school-based preventive and behavioral healthcare and the rural EMS workforce. CMS did not identify individual recipients or application deadlines in the announcement.
