New book on shared decision making for healthcare workers

The NQP Playbook: Shared Decision Making in Healthcare was released by the National Quality Forum’s National Quality Partners (NQP) for clinicians who are interested in applying shared decision making (SDM) principles in their facilities. SDM is a process of communication in which clinicians and patients work together to make informed healthcare decisions that align with what matters most to patients. NQP brought together 20 experts and national stakeholders to spur collective action to make SDM a standard of care. This go-to-resource, available for paid download at the NQF website, can be used across care settings to implement and strengthen SDM and make it a reality for all patients.

Post-free distraction system for hip arthroscopy

Stryker’s new post-free hip distraction system, Pivot Guardian, is designed to mitigate groin complications and heel slips which are commonly associated with hip arthroscopy. The post-free solution enables surgeons to create adequate force for distraction without applying pressure to the groin while mitigating heel slip and excessive pressure applied to the foot. The Pivot Guardian Distraction System also increases intraoperative range of motion, enables more flexible c-arm positioning, and presents surgeons with the opportunity to consider more bilateral hips scopes in their practice.
