The Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE) and the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) have issued statements regarding the cancellation of the 2020 AHE Exchange event and the ASHE annual conference move.
AHE states, “Recognizing the ongoing efforts of hospitals and health systems fighting COVID-19 in their communities while also providing care for other patient needs, the Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE) has cancelled its Exchange 2020 Annual Conference and Solutions Center, scheduled for August 2-5 in Chicago, and all AHE Exchange related events. During this unprecedented time, we support Illinois and Chicago’s phased reopening which does not allow large events. We also recognize and understand that hospital and health system leaders must remain onsite.”
The 2020 AHE Exchange Conference and Solution Center convenes healthcare professionals from multiple disciplines to collect tools, build and enhance skills and share the lessons necessary to optimize environmental services as a critical programmatic response to infection prevention and environmental hygiene; as well as to quality outcomes and patient or resident experience.
The original plan co-located the AHE Exchange event with the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) in August.
ASHE is supporting the ongoing efforts of hospital and health systems to fight COVID-19 in their communities by convening its 2020 Annual Conference & Technical Exhibition with a virtual participation option. In view of local, state and federal guidance and orders, the in-person conference will now be held in Chicago Oct. 4-7.
