APIC introduces 2021 leadership

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) announced the association’s 2021 board of directors.

Appointments include:

·        2021 President: Ann Marie Pettis, RN, BSN, CIC, FAPIC, has more than 30 years of experience as an infection preventionist. Currently she is Director of Ambulatory Infection Prevention for UR Medicine: Highland Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.

·         2021 President-elect: Linda Dickey, RN, MPH, CIC, FAPIC, has been elected president-elect, a position she will hold until January 2022, at which time she will become APIC president. Linda is the Senior Director for Quality, Patient Safety, and Infection Prevention at UC Irvine Health in Orange County, Calif.

·         Immediate Past President: Connie Steed, MSN, RN, CIC, FAPIC, Director, Infection Prevention, Prisma Health-Upstate, Greenville, S.C.

·         They join current officers of the board of directors including:

·         Treasurer: Carol McLay, DrPH, MPH, RN, CIC, FAPIC, CEO of Infection Prevention International and Infection Prevention Consultant, Santa Fe, N.M.

·         Secretary: Annemarie Flood, BSN, MPH, RN, CIC, FAPIC, Director, Infection Prevention Program, City of Hope, Duarte, Calif.

The following APIC members have been newly elected to serve on the board of directors for terms beginning in January 2021:

·         Roy Boukidjian, MSN, NE-BC, CIC, FAPIC, System Vice President, Infection Prevention, at CommonSpirit Health in Los Angeles, Calif.

·         Karoline Sperling, MPH, MLS (ASCP)CM, CIC, FAPIC, Infection Prevention Supervisor at Park Nicollet Health Services in St. Louis Park, Minn.

·         Angela Vassallo, MPH, MS, CIC, FAPIC, Infection Prevention Consultant and co-founder and CEO of The Safe Set in Los Angeles, Calif.

·         S. Gail Thurmond, MD, MBA, CSSBB, CPHQ (external director), Senior Vice President, Clinical Effectiveness, and Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer, for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tenn.
