Mayo Clinic secured the No. 1 spot globally for the eighth straight year, leading a strong showing by U.S. institutions. Several American hospitals, spanning major academic medical centers and leading community systems, landed in the top tier, including Cleveland Clinic at No. 3 and The Johns Hopkins Hospital at No. 6.

The World’s Best Hospitals 2026 list aims to help patients and families identify leading healthcare institutions worldwide by combining expert recommendations with objective performance data and patient feedback. The United States led the rankings with 420 hospitals recognized, while countries such as Germany and Canada also posted strong representation among the top performers. Toronto General Hospital reached a milestone this year, earning its highest-ever global ranking at No. 2.

The rankings assessed hospitals across 32 countries using input from medical experts, hospital quality metrics, patient experience data and patient-reported outcome measures gathered through Statista surveys.
