Supply chain leader Ed Hardin has died

Feb. 11, 2021

Ed Hardin, who served as Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer at Froedtert Health in Milwaukee, WI, passed away Wednesday. It’s hard to believe that for a man with so much energy and compassion who was only in his early fifties.

Our condolences go out to his family and his team.

Before joining Froedtert Health, Ed served as senior vice president Supply Chain Management at Beaumont Health, Michigan’s largest healthcare system.

In 2016, Ed’s Supply Chain team won the HPN Supply Chain Department of the Year. As was characteristic for Ed, he lauded his team for the accomplishment. At the time, Ed was CHRISTUS Health System’s Vice President of Supply Chain Management.

“There’s a saying amongst the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team. We’re building the plane as we’re flying it. That takes boldness and tenacity but we’ve found that chartering a group — committee, council, team, task force, etc. — is as much about pulling people together who share a vision and understand that doing something new oftentimes means it won’t be perfect, but we don’t let perfection get too much in the way of progress,” Ed said.

Ed was an industry thought leader, always thinking about what he could share from his experiences to educate and guide his colleagues. Ed was honored by the Bellwether League in the class of 2020 for his 25 years of contributions and support to the healthcare supply chain.
