ECRI Introduces Predictive Replacement Planning Service
Sept. 4, 2024
ECRI's PRP service, led by experienced clinicians and engineers, utilizes extensive data and qualitative research to predict medical equipment replacement, offering hospitals a valuable tool for improving operations.
ECRI recently introduced its Predictive Replacement Planning (PRP) service, which aims to help hospitals optimize equipment management and maintenance.
A blog post on the service says that “PRP provides a structured model for anticipating when medical equipment will reach the end of its useful life or require replacement. To predict replacement timing, the model considers device age as well as 11 other weighted factors.”
The PRP service is “delivered by a team of experienced clinicians, hospital operations leaders, and/or experienced clinical engineers.” ECRI says it draws from multiple ECRI databases with millions of data points and also includes quantitative input and qualitative research including interviews with key stakeholders and hospital leadership.
