Globus Relief: 4 STARS

The Calvillo General Hospital is located at the head of the municipality of the same name, 53 km west of the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico. The population for which it has responsibility amounts to over 54,000 inhabitants. The hospital provides second-level care and medical and surgical care to the citizens of the municipality itself, in addition to serving as a support hospital for firstlevel care units. Its mission is to provide comprehensive health services and quality care, with warmth, to the population of Calvillo.
On April 5, 2019, Calvillo General Hospital celebrated an incoming donation of medical equipment and other resources from Globus Relief. The president of the local municipal administration, Adán Valdivia López, orchestrated the proceedings and spoke to the assembled crowd. He recognized the efforts of many institutions and individuals to acquire the resources, including Globus Relief, its charity partner, the Utah Federation of United Mexicans (La Federación de Mexicanos Unidos en Utah), and the Absent Sons of San Tadeo (El Club Hijos Ausentes de San Tadeo). The resources will primarily benefit the citizens of Calvillo via the hospital and other local programs, though their use will also extend to those in the surrounding areas. The donation was received by Gilberto Solis Beltran, the hospital’s director.
We are pleased to continue to support the development of the health system of Calvillo. Change and progress take time. In Calvillo, however, one hospital and one clinic at a time, together we build a brighter, better and stronger future year by year and donation by donation.
Globus Relief
Globus Relief was founded in 1996. While working in the salvage retail industry, two Salt Lake City businessmen were saddened to see viable medical and hygiene supplies frequently sent to landfills. Certain that these surplus resources could be rescued and put to good use, they created Globus Relief to efficiently channel overstocked, gently used, or short-dated supplies to humanitarian projects in Utah and around the world.
Since our founding, Globus Relief has distributed over $1 billion (fair market value) of supplies to more than 800 charities at work in over 140 countries. Twenty full-time employees oversee the work of gathering, processing, and distributing humanitarian supplies in our 100,000-s.f. warehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah. Volunteers contribute an average of 225 labor hours per week, the equivalent of 5.6 additional full-time employees.
Globus Relief is known for strong financial efficiency, historically keeping administrative and fundraising expenses to under 3% of our total budget.
