APG names Susan Dentzer as new President and CEO

America’s Physician Groups (APG) announced in a press release that Susan Dentzer, MS, has been selected as its new President and CEO. Dentzer, a well-known and highly-regarded thought leader in healthcare policy. She will replace Don Crane, current APG President and CEO.

Dentzer is currently Senior Policy Fellow at the Robert J. Margolis Center for Health Policy. She will assume her position as APG President and CEO in March. She is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the Council on Foreign Relations. In her work at Duke-Margolis, she has focused on reforms in health care payment and delivery and the vital transition to value-based care.

In 2020, Dentzer was the keynote speaker for the 2020 Mark McKenna Lecture at Arizona State University in the W.P. Carey School of Business, Department of Supply Chain Management, where she presented her lecture, Health Care Without Walls, Opportunities and Challenges for a Distributed Health Care System. From 2016-2019, she was President and CEO of the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation, a nonprofit, multistakeholder organization focused on policies to advance health care innovation. She was the editor and lead author of Health Care Without Walls: A Roadmap for Reinventing U.S. Health Care, and from 2013 to 2016, she was Senior Policy Advisor to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
