FDA to present webinar on sterilizers, disinfectant devices, and air purifiers

Dec. 4, 2020

The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) will host a webinar on the Enforcement Policy for Sterilizers, Disinfectant Devices, and Air Purifiers During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Public Health Emergency, as part of the series on Respirators and Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Healthcare Personnel Use during the COVID-19 Pandemic, on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. ET.

In addition to PPE, other medical devices used in healthcare settings—such as certain sterilizers, disinfectant devices, and air purifiers—may help reduce the risk of viral exposure to SARS-CoV-2 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During this webinar, the FDA will share information about sterilizers, air purifiers, and disinfectant devices – including chemical and physical disinfectants, and ultraviolet (UV) disinfecting devices. Representatives from the FDA and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be available to answer questions.

The FDA hosts a webinar every two weeks typically to share information and answer your questions about respirators and other PPE. The FDA will announce additional webinar dates in 2021.

FDA has the announcement.
