Disinfectant approved for use against Monkeypox

June 10, 2022

Halosil International, Inc., a company specializing in whole room disinfection across a broad range of applications and environments, has been included on the Environmental Protection Agency’s “Disinfectants for Emerging Viral Pathogens: List Q” for the use of its HaloMist solution to help fight the spread of emerging viruses like Monkeypox.

When there is an emergence of a rare or novel virus, there may not be many disinfectants that have been tested and registered for use against that specific pathogen. To prepare for these situations, the EPA created the EVP (Emerging Viral Pathogen) guidance, which is a voluntary process that allows disinfectant manufacturers to submit data to the EPA that demonstrates a product’s efficacy against difficult-to-inactivate viruses.

In the event of an outbreak that meets certain criteria, the EPA enacts the EVP guidance for the specific virus. The EPA authorizes companies whose products have EVP claims to make statements on their websites, social media, and technical literature about their product’s expected efficacy against the emerging virus. Halosil’s inclusion on the EVP list positions HaloMist as an effective solution that provides reliable disinfection against emerging viruses.

“The inclusion of HaloMist on EPA List Q represents Halosil’s continued commitment to providing effective disinfection against all types of pathogens in varied environments,” said Maryalice StClair, Chief Commercial Officer at Halosil International. “We are continuing to monitor this emerging threat, and we will assist our customers with any of their concerns about this virus, as well as any other potential pathogens that may impact the public.”

HaloMist applies multiple mechanisms of killing action to attack pathogens present in highly-susceptible environments. Through a proprietary blend of hydrogen peroxide and antimicrobial silver ions, HaloMist acts as an all-in-one solution, reaching areas beyond the reach of electrostatic sprayers, air purifiers, spray-and-wipe systems, and UV lights. By leveraging Halosil’s proprietary HaloMist formula with the HaloFogger, the Halo Disinfection System ensures the uniform, dry fogging delivery of disinfectant throughout any space.
