Israel reported a case of ‘Florona’ or flu plus Corona in a pregnant woman admitted to the Rabin Medical Centre to give birth. The double infection is reported to be caused by a breakdown of immunity as both the influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2 enter the body at the same time.
According to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the young woman was not vaccinated for either virus. Israeli doctors reported that cases of influenza have surged in the past few weeks.
