Secure pre-filled syringe sealing

The Syringe-Closure-Wrap, introduced by Schreiner MediPharm, includes a label that surrounds a pre-filled syringe’s barrel and complete cap for a protected seal and increased patient safety. When the user pulls off the upper part of the label, the integrated first-opening indication is triggered. Due to special security die cuts, the label is irreversibly destroyed and cannot be closed again unnoticed. After the label has been opened for the first time, an additional warning appears. Authentication features can be integrated into the label for added safety. No direct heat is applied in processing the syringe label, making it suitable for heat-sensitive substances. The enlarged label area extends across the cap and can be used for additional information.

Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia injection

A new partnership highlighting the SAFIRA (SAFer Injection for Regional Anesthesia), by Medovate Ltd. to be used in conjunction with ultrasound solutions, by Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas Inc., will help promote best practice in regional anesthesia across the United States and the Middle East. SAFIRA is a Class II medical device that puts control of the injection in the hands of the anesthetist, freeing up their assistants to carry out other tasks. The device also helps to improve patient safety by reducing the risk of nerve damage as it helps to prevent injection above 20psi. Ultrasound guidance offers visualization of the anatomy and more informed guidance for the needle pathway, avoiding structures that might be damaged by the needle.

Multi-height digital radiography imaging

The MULTIX Impact C ceiling-mounted digital radiography (DR) and the MULTIX Impact VA20, a new version of the established floor-mounted parent DR system, both by Siemens Healthineers, will help expand radiology’s high-quality imaging and enhance the patient experience. Both systems have received FDA clearance. Each system possesses an intuitive operating system, versatile wireless detectors, motorized tube heads, and a free-floating, flat tabletop for easier patient access. With the X-ray tube’s touch user interface, the radiologic technologist can remain by the patient’s side for longer periods. When in the control room, the technologist can continuously monitor the patient via the myExam 2D camera. The myExam Companion’s camera-based Smart Virtual Ortho feature can be set on the touchscreen, so long-leg and full-spine examinations can be set up and performed more easily.
