Medline is expanding its Northern California distribution footprint with more than 1.6 million square feet of new warehouse space following the June fire that destroyed its Tracy, Calif., distribution center.

The medical supply distributor has secured a 925,000-square-foot facility in Tracy for immediate occupancy and a 709,000-square-foot facility in nearby Stockton, Calif., scheduled to open in January 2027. Together, the sites will replace and expand capacity beyond the company’s former 1 million-square-foot Tracy facility.

The new facilities will increase Medline’s customer-facing Northern California distribution capacity by 45% from one month ago, strengthening its ability to support healthcare providers across the region. The Tracy location is expected to begin receiving inventory from Medline’s broader distribution network and shipping products through the company’s MedTrans transportation fleet in the coming months.

Medline said it activated contingency plans immediately following the fire, including rerouting products, increasing inventory levels and expanding transportation capacity to maintain service for customers.

Beyond Northern California, Medline’s California distribution footprint is expected to approach 5 million square feet by mid-2027, including a new 1 million-square-foot facility under construction in Perris, Calif.
